The next run of the Access to Audio for Women course will commence Thursday 31st May

This is a FREE 28-week, part-time evening course to help women access level 4 training in Audio such as the FdSc in Sound Engineering and Design.
Much more knowledgeable; am more confident; am excited about what I've learned and want to use my skills.

  • Hopes to get Pro Tools at home for personal recordings and for working with other artists Musician/singer/songwriter
  • Member of Tremolo Heart an all female band featuring 3 WISEAMP students
  • Records and performs under the name ‘Belle of Les Bois’.

  • I have also recently been involved in a recording project called CATFACE, I co-engineered/produced and provided vocals for this on- going project.

Emily Hewson

  • Qualified youth worker with a degree in music
  • Classical background playing flute and singer
  • Currently setting self up as a freelance community music worker
  • Teach flute and music theory
  • Does music work with people with special needs
  • Self-taught music technology
  • Songwriter using cubase and reason
  • Produced ‘helpful tips for songwriting’ for work with young people which is mainly to help with lyrics

  • Sound engineer at 53 Degrees, Preston (got work experience as a result of doing the WISEAMP course, then applied for job and got it)

Mandy Wigby
(Oct 05 term)
  • Part-time music worker at Gorse Hill studios in Old Trafford support the professional development and mentoring of young music producers and musicians aged 12 - 25.
  • Engineers, produces and writes music with young people including youth offending teams.
  • Stage-manages live events including The Sideshow at the Contact theatre.
  • Worked as a keyboard player and sound engineer for various projects including Jaywalk/Wajeed remixes for Fat City and remixes for Nuphonic and Discograph records.
  • Songwriter for Sony music
  • Toured America, England and Europe as keyboard player with the band Lionrock and recorded material (including the number 19 hit 'Rude Boy Rock').
  • Aim this year: set up a music production company which specializes in making music for television, film and theatre.

Maria Aretoulaki (Oct 05 term)
  • DJ (Drum ‘n’ Bass, Jungle, techno, electro)
  • Wants to get into music production
  • Would like to do work-shadowing in a studio to put newly acquired skills into practice

  • Plays in various bands
  • Wants to develop recording skills for future projects and to be a string arranger
